2016-17 Galland Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Resident

Hi, my name is Nikki Renfroe and I am from the small town of Dawsonville, GA. I recently graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. My goal as an athletic trainer is to work in the clinical or non-traditional setting. I was a competitive equestrian for 18 years and never had an athletic trainer, so working with athletes involved in the more unique sports is a passion of mine. I have experience working with BMX, skateboarding, gymnastics, snowboarding, and many other action sports and would love to be back in that setting once more. I am looking so forward to this residency and all the exeriences I will gain from it. I am eager to learn new skills that will set me apart as an athletic trainer, and being able to lend assistance on any medical staff, especially as a Physician Extender. I have faith that after this year long residency I will have acquired so much confidence, knowledge, experience, and an entire new skill set.

2016-17 Galland Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Resident

Hi, My name is Chelsea Sorensen
I am from Victoria British Columbia, Canada, which is on a small island off the coast of BC. I came to North Carolina because I was offered a lacrosse scholarship at Catawba College, where I graduated with a bachelors degree in athletic training.
My overall career aspirations are to go to graduate school and become a physician assistant. However, I am very excited to have the opportunity to become a resident with OSNC and having the opportunity to work in a wide variety of settings offered at OSNC. I am confident by working in these different settings, that I will be able to build upon my pre-existing skills as an athletic trainer and become more comfortable in the clinical setting.
My hobbies consist of being active such as exploring the outdoors by hiking as well as kayaking. I also enjoy playing lacrosse and rugby.

2016-17 Galland Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Resident

My name is Ana Mari Parker, born and raised in the Raleigh area. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015, and have recently completed an internship at the University of Richmond working with their baseball and women’s soccer teams. After working for a year at the collegiate level, I am excited to experience the role of athletic trainers in an orthopaedic clinic. I am also very eager to begin our two month observations, especially physical and aquatic therapy. My plan is to become a dual credentialed PT-ATC, with the long term goal of teaching at a university. In my spare time, I love hanging out on the Neuse River, watching the Orioles and the Hurricanes, and learning to cook.

  • Kelsey Scheerer

    Kelsey Scheerer

    2016-17 Galland Ortho/CASL Resident

My name is Kelsey Scheerer and I was born and raised in a west suburb of Cleveland, OH with my parents, two older brothers, and dog. I have recently graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. I have a passion for the field of sports medicine, and I hope to practice in a new/ nontraditional role of athletic training or at the collegiate/ professional level. What I look forward too the most as a resident with CASL and OSNC is the variety of high profile experience I will get in both the orthopedic office and clinically with soccer. Outside of athletic training, I enjoy being with my family, music, boxing, watching movies, and being outdoors: fishing, swimming, biking and boating. Fun fact about me is I played volleyball for seven years, and I studied athletic training abroad in Australia last May!
